秋分の日、この日ばかりは
この暗き隘路に面したる
我が集合住宅の通路にも
光、多く差したるに
扉を開けて出ずれば驚く
その宮居は黄金のごと
喜ばしく心映えわたる
その光景であること
ここからは、我が
いかなる未知に辿りゆきし
そこでどれほどか泣き、笑い
はたまた憂いに満ちたことか
あるいは激しい労働に果てて
汗臭い身体のまま
もの寂しい夜更けに足を引き
帰り来たるが、
しかしいま光、満ち溢れ
我は喜びたる
その訳も分からず
心に成すこともない
この豊かなる黄金の無常
即ち、秋の日には

At the First Day of Fall, On only just the day
Even in the hallway of my apartment building
Which faces a dark narrow road
There is so much light shining in
That I am surprised
When I open the door and step out
The shrine is like gold
Joyful!, and my heart is brightly fulfilled
Such sight is there
I’m leaving from here
To trace the path to the unknown
And how much sobbing and laughing
Or else, was I filled with sadness
And worn out by hard labor
With my body still smelling of sweat
I dragged my feet home
In the lonely late night,
Yet now, light overflows
And I am filled with joy—
Without knowing the reason why
With no intent in my heart
Amidst this rich, golden impermanence—
Here, on an autumn day
